Sod repair and replacement

Not every lawn needs a full redo. When part of the yard dies from drought, a broken sprinkler, dog spots, or bugs, we cut out the dead grass and patch it with matching sod by the piece, so the repair blends in with the rest of the lawn. When most of the lawn is gone, we strip it and re-sod the whole yard. Either way, we look at why the grass died first. How we install sod

1. Measure and quote. Brandon measures the area, looks at how much sun it gets, and gives you a free written quote, usually within 24 hours.
2. Remove the old grass. Dead turf and weeds come out and get hauled away.
3. Prepare the ground. The soil is graded and loosened so the new roots can grow into it.
4. Lay the sod. St. Augustine, Bahia, or zoysia goes down tight, with no gaps between pieces, cut to fit around beds and walks.
5. Water and hand off. You get a written watering plan for the first 60 days that fits the county new-sod rules, and we tell you when it is ready for its first mow.

Floratam, Palmetto, Bahia, or zoysia?

Most Spring Hill lawns are St. Augustine. Floratam is the usual pick for full sun. Palmetto handles more shade, so it suits yards under oaks. Bahia costs less, takes drought better, and fits bigger lots out toward Brooksville, but it grows thinner and puts up seed heads in summer. Zoysia makes a dense, soft, carpet-like lawn that holds up to kids, dogs, and foot traffic better than St. Augustine, and it handles salt air and some shade well. It costs more, fills in more slowly, and is kept shorter, around 2 inches, with a sharp blade.
